Based in Munich, BayernLB (Bayerische Landesbank) is a leading commercial bank for large and mid-market corporate customers. When its London branch decided to relocate to new premises, it asked us to address the twin challenges of keeping its existing systems stayed up and running, while introducing a new communications platform that would support better, more connected ways of working.

We proposed an IP telephony system based on Cisco’s Business Edition 6000 packaged collaboration platform, with Red Box voice recording. This is a fully scalable system, complemented by a wireless infrastructure based on Cisco Meraki cloud-managed access points and a Cisco Catalyst-based local area network, all protected by a Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance solution. We completed the build in just six months, ensuring that the entire system was fully operational, secure and compliant the day BayernLB moved into its new offices in Moorgate.

The transition to a high-performance Wi-Fi infrastructure has transformed the working environment. Staff can make any desk phone their own simply by keying-in a login number, with access to video, chat and presence, as well as audio. An IP-based dealerboard solution for the bank’s trading floor, fully integrated into BayernLB’s secure Call Manager infrastructure, allows people to work with their choice of device or handset. Visitors and customers can also be accommodated thanks to secure guest wireless access. What’s more, dealing with us as its single supplier for all UK telephony and on-going day-to-day management needs has dramatically reduced the administrative burden on the IT team.
